The Future Scouts Code (v0.7)

Oath

Learn to Lead & Love to Live

I am in alignment with my own self-direction, I move freely and fearlessly in my decisions, ideas and actions. I am responsible for my learning, and there is no failure, only feedback. I transform my fear into curiosity. I support my Peers in following their own paths, and allow the lessons of the past to transform my vision of the future.

I understand participation in Future Scouts is a privilege that supports my development as a self-directed lifelong learner, and to pursue my preferred future every day.

My preferred future is a better world, a more caring world, and a thriving humanity.

Motto

WHAT IF?

A Future Scout imagines what futures are possible for themselves, their communities and our world.

WHY NOT?

A Future Scout questions assumptions, the status quo, and sheds biases that limit our sense of what is possible.

WHY NOT ME?

A Future Scout takes action on a personal level and knows that every Peer can positively impact the world.

Mission

The mission of the Future Scouts organization is to prepare Peers of all ages with 21st Survival Skills to become self-directed learners. We do this through providing knowledge, experiences and tools that help them become of service to themselves, their Phyles, and the authors of their own preferred futures.

Vision

A world where learners of all ages embrace their curiosity, share their gifts, and play an essential role in contributing to the future of humanity.

Values

Optimism.

It is important to understand and celebrate the interdependence of people, nature and society to thrive in an increasingly interdependent world.

Agility.

Everything is in a constant state of flux. Adaptability and responsiveness are key to survival and success in the future. Learning is about finding and creating answers and methods for navigating the unknown.

Curiosity.

It is our ability to have imaginative, open-ended creative thought and expression that makes the world a vibrant and enriching place.

Self-determination.

It is our ability to foster understanding, discover who we are, comprehend our purpose and discover our passion as we increase our self-direction.

Mutual Respect.

It is our responsibility to create an inclusive environment that can peacefully contain a diversity of perspectives, beliefs, attitudes and opinions. We act with respect to one another even when conflicts surface. We upregulate our conflicts into opportunities for increased empathy and understanding for all.

Conduct

I will act in ways that respect the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, experiences and emotions of myself and others.

I will conduct myself in a way that is fair, honest and respectful of everyone and everything.

I will take responsibility for my actions and the consequences of my behavior.

My words and actions inspire others and will influence others to be positive contributors to our world.
